Jonathan Mills record book, 1727-1784.

Record book of the First Congregational Church of Bellingham, Mass., kept by its minister, Rev. Jonathan Mills from 29 June 1727 - 18 May 1746. The brief, scattered entries note members admitted to full communion, marriages, baptisms, punishments, and a record of votes taken in the church. Another section of the book, kept from 23 Feb. 1726 - 1784 is a record of Mills's personal life including his marriages, his death, his children and grandchildren's births, deaths, and marriages, and the deaths of his wives. The book also contains the personal accounts of Thomas and William Sturgis (Mills's son-in-law), for 1770-1783. The entries include expenditures for such items as tea, sugar, tobacco, lime, rum, molasses, lead, nails, and candles.
